You can now make your own retro movies on the iPhone using the Super 8 app, which is free for a limited time. Super 8, the upcoming film directed by JJ Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg, involves children in the 70s making a movie with, of course, a Super 8mm camera. The app features lots of vintage recording effects, like film scratches, different lenses, and film shake. When you’ve finally put your footage together, you can watch it in-app by pulling down a projection screen.
No word on what the app will cost once the promotion is done, but if you’re into vintage effects, this is a fun one to grab. Super 8 is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch (4th generation), iPad 2 Wi-Fi, and iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G. Requires iOS 4.2 or later.
