Best Buy to Offer Wi-Fi HTC Flyer in Exclusive Deal Starting May 22Posted by: Scott WebsterMay 20, 2011Best Buy shot out a quick press announcement late yesterday advising that they'll soon be offering the Wi-Fi version of the HTC Flyer. Although the company didn't make mention of a price point, it has been available via pre-sales with a $500 sticker.  The Flyer is slated to arrive at a Best Buy store near you this coming Sunday, May 22nd. As a refresher, the 7-inch tablet runs a custom version of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with Sense UI, and features 16GB internal memory, a 5-megapixel camera, front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera, and support for HTC Notes/stylus input.

$500 ?!?! Same pricepoint as full featured 10.1 tablets like Xoom & Galaxy, why get this? Android tablets #1 setback is price.

How is the price an issue? I could name a few reasons why android tablets arent/wont be doing so well for a while, but price is not one of them. $500 for a tablet that can match ipad2 functionality for the most part, cost the same if not less than the ipad2's.

Yep, I must agree with Laqadasic, pricepoint is an issue.  $500 is a lot for this class of a tablet.
