Death Rally is an exciting new combat racer for iOS devices. PC gamers will probably remember Death Rally when it came out in 1996…or not. But for its latest iteration on iOS devices, both casual and avid iOS gamers will surely remember Death Rally as one of the best games available in the App Store.

Death Rally has all the ingredients we look for in a mobile game: pure, adrenalin-pumping action, a variety of weapons and battle cars, witty and funny player voice-overs, achievements, unlocked items, leveling up, car customization, and more. To put it simply, Death Rally is one game you should not miss playing, whether on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.

Awesome Graphics and Game Physics

I first played the game on my iPad 2, which, as you all know ,is capable of handling games with faster frame-rate. Indeed, Death Rally’s 60 fps works well on the iPad 2. The cars move fast and the physics are flawless. The graphics on iPad 2 are better-looking than Infinity Blade. When it comes to details, you won’t notice too much pixelation. But if you want a better resolution, you might as well play it on your iPhone 4; the Retina Display gives this game’s graphics optimum justice.

The Right Mix of Game Play and Features

Death Rally is a top-down combat racer game. If you’ve played Reckless Racing HD, this game is even more exciting and fun to play. At the start of the game, you’ll get a pretty decent vehicle and weapon. You can choose to play several races one by one and start earning points and rewards and get the feel of the racing system. The points and rewards can be used to upgrade your vehicle’s handling, speed and weapons, or to repair damages incurred during the race. You can upgrade manually or automatically.

As you progressed through the game, you’ll open up more race tracks, more weapons and, of course, cooler vehicles. Upgrade each of these weapons one by one and you’ll notice that your progress bar is starting to go up. Hopefully, you’re enjoying the game until you’ve accomplished 100% progress, which can be done in 4 to 6 hours. For some, this might be too short. Fortunately, the game was recently updated with more weapons and a new sportscar. Playing through the update will give you more than 100% achivement. Incidentally, along the way, you’ll also earn various achievements that can be reflected on your Game Center account.

Best Combat Racer for iOS?

A resounding yes. Don’t get me wrong here; the game is not perfect, but almost. It has the right mix of great graphics, impressive features, and engaging game play. For that, I would definitely recommend getting this game. You’ll miss a big part of your iOS gaming life if you don’t.
